Garima Hoops
Inspired by the skillful wood carvings around Patan Durbar Square, most of which are over 400 years old and naturally, time-worn. ‘Garima’ collection pays respect not only to our rich artistic heritage but also the artisans who are still practising the generationally passed down skill set of our ancestors.
Handcrafted in brass with 22kt gold plating
Garima Collection
Garima means dignity in Nepali.
After the quake, I have wondered numerous times how and even when our government would go about the restoration/construction of the numerous temples and other heritage sites that were lost/damaged.
Personally, I fear the ones we have lost might only remain in memories or pictures, because I am aware, ‘…fashioning the replacement of lost elements to look like originals was, and still is, widely branded as a falsification of the historical fabric’ (The Sulima Pagoda).
Yet I hope, whatever approach the government and other bodies involved decide to take, the decision is taken out of GARIMA (dignity) and respect.
